His real
name was Christopher John Boyle, but when his parents got divorced he takes the
maiden name of his mother, Cornell. He
has born in Seattle, United States in 1964 and the magazine Rolling Stones places him in the 9th
place of the best singers in history.
When Chris
has fourteen years old, his parents got divorced and this cause he suffered a
severe case of depression during his adolescence and this motivated him to
learn to play guitar and drums.
After this
he formed the band Soundgarden, one of the most important bands for the grunge
genre of the early 90's.
I like Chris
Cornell mainly for the feeling he conveyed with his voice in each song, he said
that he "tried to see the pain as a scream", so many of his songs are
loaded with a very strong meaning and feeling.
Due to that
powerful voice that characterizes him, he caught my attention when I was 15
years old and when I researched about his biography I felt quite identified
with his story and his way of using music to overcome pain and sadness.
Unfortunately,
Chris committed suicide on May 18, 2017 in full tour with the band Soundgarden
reunited after 12 years. But he left a very important legacy as one of the most
important voices of Rock and one of the few Rock singers capable of venturing
into different musical genres.
